Danie’s Corner – 4 Simple Steps to Achieving The Polka Dots Nail Art Inspired by Duro Olowu

Familiar with Duro Olowu? He is a Nigerian-born, London-based designer that is making waves in today’s world of fashion. The first thing that came to my mind when I came across this piece was “Boom! I’ve got to have this combo on my nails.”   The polka dots got me and I love me some polka dot nails because They are very easy to achieve.No serious skill required. They always look nice. They are bang on trend. You don’t need special dotting tools….you can use a bobby pin, toothpick, or even pencil to dot away. They are very cheap – You can do it yourself and save yourself the costs of a trip to your manicurist. Lastly, with polka dots the possibilities are unending. You can create so many statement-making designs with different colours and what not. So in four simple steps… here’s how I achieved it: I started with a base coat of these colours Using my dotting tool (You can get it Here), I applied the black and white dots as needed I used my white Barry M nail art pen (you can get it Here) to create the strips on my pinkie. I  left the nails to dry, finished off with my top coat….    And voila!  The result isn’t perfect…little roughness here and there but errrr… not bad I think. As for the pink floral brooch, I left it on the model biko. lol
