Style & Travel: Maryam Salam X Virgos Lounge [Style Shoot In Sliema, Malta]

Maryam Salam X Virgos Lounge

It’s been a while since I uploaded a style post. I surely haven’t lost my passion for fashion, it’s just circumstance. But, today, I am back with an outfit of the day collaboration with London based brand Virgos Lounge.

“The brands aesthetic is based on their love for vintage clothing, combining contemporary silhouettes, trends and colours with classic vintage styles to create unique statement pieces for the modern woman.”Virgos Lounge

I was super excited to receive this particular piece from the VL team. They surely understand my personal style which is one thing I really appreciate with brands I work with. The length, colour and style are perfect and straight-away, I knew I had to take it along with me to Malta.

I just got back from the Island of Maltese (Malta) yesterday and I must say, I really had a great time. For a while now, I’ve been busy with studies and my part-time job I literally don’t have free time off for myself. I’ve always worked along with my studies but doing a masters degree along with a hectic part-time job was more difficult than I thought. I hate to complain because I choose this routine and I just have to own up to it. Going on this trip has not only been beneficial for my health but my creativity. It gave me a fresh environment to re-evaluate my plans and creative projects.

Malta:

Moving forward, I hope to create more time for my blog and creative projects. Malta is beautiful [In capital letters] and surely should be a place for all creatives to visit. Compared to England, it is colourful and every street looks like a valley leading to a historic cave. The people are nice, although in the older age range. I would relate their culture and lifestyle to “Hispanic“: Apart from the fact that their native language sounds Spanish although they speak fluent English and most of their restaurants serve pasta and pizza on a regular.

Trip Planning:

This is my first time to actually handle and plan a trip. I think this whole process thought me to pay extra attention to details and be responsible. I had to make sure all details were correct and accurate with the travel agency. Especially, when you are travelling with a low-cost airline as Ryanair, you need to make sure to follow all rules as their customer’s service isn’t great and you don’t want to find yourself in a back and forth situation with a customer’s service that is almost inexistence.

Package:

This is my second time going on a packaged trip and so far I think it is the best way to travel on a budget especially as a student. Our hotel was a 3 stars hotel with bed and breakfast deal. Having breakfast before leaving the hotel is always a great option as you don’t have to leave the building very early to get something to eat. Then, for lunch and dinner, we explored the local restaurants in the city.

Because it was a short stay, we were only able to visit one city next by called Valletta which is also another busy city as Sliema where we were residing.

Travel Tips:

If you are planning to go on a short trip to Europe as us, I would advise you:

  • Book in advance for great deals [a few weeks before]
  • Follow the airline conditions – Ryanair require you to check-in online [It’s a MUST] and print out your boarding pass at home
  • Ask your travel agency/company if you need to pay any tax [We had to pay £0.50/per night tax at the hotel – Compulsry]
  • Travel with your student card for activities or restaurant discounts
  • Cheaper to book your Airport > Hotel transfer in advance
  • Don’t be like me, change your currency in advance or withdraw at your destination directly from the ATM [Apparently Barclays doesn’t charge extra fee when you withdraw abroad + there is HSBC in Malta]

Love the styling as usual, you know what suits your body and wear it so well. Really love how you easily add a bit of modesty to your outfit without making them look drab
